- 2 slices bread sourdough, ciabatta, or country loaf (4-5 oz/slice)
- 4 oz 110g fresh mozzarella, sliced
- 1 medium tomato sliced
- 4-5 fresh basil leaves
- 1-2 tablespoons 15-30ml butter or olive oil
Lightly butter one side of each slice of bread.
On the unbuttered side of one slice of bread, layer half of the mozzarella slices, followed by the tomato slices, and then the fresh basil leaves. Top with the remaining mozzarella slices.
Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side up.
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.
Carefully place the assembled sandwich in the heated skillet.
Use a spatula to gently press down on the sandwich.
Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the mozzarella is melted and gooey.
Slice the sandwich in half and serve immediately.
